The men’s race had a surprising winning team in the form of Stockport Harriers at a wet and boggy Berry Hill Park on Saturday.
In the annual relays Stockport Harriers enjoyed victory. Only 47th last year and never having put a senior team on the podium in the 26-year history of these championships, the Manchester club won by 53 seconds from Leeds City AC.
Steve Vernon clocked the quickest split of the day and his team-mates, Jack Martin, Andy Nixon and Patrick Martin, held on.
